Do they put a catherer when you get a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy ?
I am really nervous and I have never had surgery before..Please help!
if you mean urinary catheter, then yes. they do.
pretty much anytime youre put to sleep you get a catheter. but with your surgery, yes. it isnt that long of a procedure. but if you need to have an open cholecystectomy, then that will greatly increase the duration of the procedure. sometimes there are complications that necessitate changing over from the laparoscopic procedure to the old fashioned way of opening you up. either way, you still need a catheter.

EDIT: yes actually you do, in fact, get a catheter for a laproscopic cholecystectomy. and if you have your surgery done in the OR im in, then i am the one who will put the thing in you. that is what i do.
